Our Programme

Scholastic Programme

School is where children spend 14 of their formative years. Beginning as a timid but curious four-year-old in the nursery, the journey culminates as a young, confident adult graduating from Grade 12. As the child progresses through the grades, the journey of discovery, exploration, reflection, and learning continues. Though they reflect the school's basic ideas and practises, the Kindergarten, Junior, Middle, and Higher Secondary years of GRT School have a distinct cadence and melody. At the end of the day, the FOUR programmes are united by a single note.

Teaching students how to learn is just as important as teaching them what to learn. We encourage our students to think for themselves, ask questions and pursue their interests through independent reading and research. The curriculum is regularly updated to stimulate students’ interests and gain the knowledge they need to compete in the fast-changing 21st-century global world. Teachers strive to make the classes as interactive as possible and use different methods to get the best out of each student. Collaborative learning is incorporated into lessons so students can share ideas and learn with and from each other. Students are engaged in experiential learning through a variety of resources. Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Physical Education are additional curricular offerings to all students. There are also many enrichment activities including outbound trips and exchanges with other schools to give students good exposure.

Curriculum and Syllabus

The GRT MV School is recognized by the government of Tamil Nadu and follows the matriculation syllabus pattern. The medium of instruction is English. The school curriculum for each class has been designed with the students' capabilities and comfort in mind and at the same time, thoughtfully constructed to cover the general curriculum standard across all institutions. The focus is on the integration of learning and applying it in everyday life. We also make sure the syllabus is not heavy on the children both physically and metaphorically, by providing a single textbook containing all subjects/syllabus for each term for the smaller classes.

Kindergarten Programme

In student-centred environments, it fosters holistic development, which is necessary for long-term success in school. Children can take part in activities that incorporate arts, crafts, tales, and play to explore a variety of themes in language, mathematics, and science. Kindergarten recognizes the social nature of learning and encourages students to work in small groups as well as a class. Each Kindergarten class has two teachers, thereby improving the student-teacher ratio.

Junior School Programme (Grades 1-5)

For primary education, GRT offers an integrated, multidisciplinary curriculum. Our academically demanding curriculum is combined with the creative arts and presented in a creative manner to engage kids physically, cognitively, and emotionally.

Through activity-oriented classes, hands-on work, and numerous co-curricular activities, we strive to promote and deliver a fruitful learning experience. As students grow through Primary School, we begin to introduce them to the world of integrated knowledge, focusing on improving their skills in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, General Science, and Social Science.

Middle School Programme (Grades 6-8)

The formative years that bring an ever-lasting effect on a child's mind are the middle years of any school. The middle years are also a pivotal time in a child's life when he or she will either acquire a lifelong love of learning or turn it into a dreaded chore. The challenge for educators is to create learning solutions and experiences that absorb in the minds of students. The ability to learn how to learn is an important aspect of middle school. The teaching-learning experience is a well-balanced combination of hands-on project work and experience analysis to build concepts, knowledge, and skillsets based on interdisciplinary learning expeditions.

High School Programme (Grades 9 & 10)

By the time children complete the Middle School Program, they will acquire skills and knowledge that will serve them well not only in their senior years but throughout their lives. Children learn to observe, reflect, analyse, synthesize, and understand from a variety of perspectives through projects. They enable the child to think critically about societal issues, whether social, cultural, technological, or environmental, and to act as an agent of societal change. It is a holistic strategy that extends beyond the surface level of subject curricula and gives several opportunities for students to revisit and rework, fostering an ethic of excellence through continuous preparation and execution.

Higher Secondary School Programme (Grades 11 & 12)

The ambience at the Senior Programme is unfettered and constantly buzzing with the energy and creative drive of the learners. The focus during the Senior Programme continues to be on deeper learning, authentic assessments through live and integrated projects (or expeditions), multiple ways to express understanding, assessments, and assignments that build 21st-century skills of communication, creativity, and collaboration, and building leadership skills within the given framework of the system. All this takes place in conjunction with a focus on building examination and writing skills. Simultaneously, there is a conscious effort towards creating a wider awareness of the world and providing space for the development of the aesthetic, moral, ethical, and emotional dimensions.
